So ... some days are just a bit off. You can either let it get to you or simply laugh. I don't always make the right choice. But today I laughed.
We set off on an adventure to a town not far from us, around 30 miles or so. Doctors appointment, school shopping and such.
We left close to on time. And close to on time is good for us because I normally feel like we're running out the door like crazy people with me driving away asking "do you have this?" or "did we bring that?"
So we left close to on time only to have to turn around to search for my lost debit card. So after searching my purse, jean pockets, closets, drawers, we were about to go throughout he trash when we spotted it. Right there next to the kitchen sink was my debit card!
So on our way yet again ...
School shopping with the kiddos was fun. It would have been a whole lot quicker, easier and probably cheaper if I had gone on my own, but for me its always more fun dot include the kiddos. I know people who would rather leave their children and do frequently, rather than include them in the process or outing. I'm not judging, as everyone has to do whats right for their own family. It's just leaving my children is not the right choice for me. I love the adventure with them. I believe they can appreciate life and family and choices so much more when they are included in the process. They can feel a part of something .... a topic I feel very passionate about.
Anyway ....
Bub wanted his school supply list and a pen. He was up and down the school supply aisle, looking for what he needed, the best deals. He even came back to me with coupons! He picked out a new pair of Converse and boy he has big feet. Bigger than mine .... but a much needed item.
And Pie picking out her school clothes ... well, lets just say she has a fashion style all of her own! She's not into jeans or shoes for the most part, but skirts, dresses and knee high black boots!
But they are set, with supplies and clothes of choice. I had a little input but I do so enjoy their own ideas and styles showing through. I can respect that.
From there, we decided to try a new yogurt place in town. We walked in only to find that it was a serve yourself ... choose from 10 different yogurt flavors, pull the lever and take as much as you want, and then the topping bar ... everything possible, fruit, nuts, candy bars, brownies, cookie dough, even captain crunch. A try kids paradise. Or a moms for that matter! And did I mention there was one size cup? We each took our cup (there were four of us as my mom joined us for our outing), and went to town. The kiddos had a blast serving themselves. I think we had more fun making our yogurts than eating them! However, when we went up to pay, the girl weighed each one and looked at us and said "That's $25." I think I went into shock .... $25 for four yogurts!
By the time we got to the car we were laughing hysterically .... what do you do. We won't be returning there anytime soon!
Low fuel light came on on the way home, yet I had used my cash paying for our million dollar yogurts. So we scrambled, put in just enough to get home.
Sometimes thats just how life works .... in the past week the back door broke so no could get in or out, the latch in the gate broke which meant dogs escaping the back yard, our cat Newman ate the vent for the dryer which left the laundry room with a sweltering heat and there has been a constant drip from the air conditioner right outside our bedroom window. So peaceful when we're trying to sleep at night!
Laughter is the best medicine, or so they say.
A hot cup of tea, reflecting on the days events and a good laugh ....
Now off to a outdoor church service with the kiddos on an unusually cloudy and cold summer morning.
Peace out .....
