She's 5!

It's hard to believe ... five years ago my baby girl was born (ever so quickly I might add) and placed in my arms. It was so amazing, that moment, like time stood still. I had known her, her heart, long before she was born, forever ... She was and is a true gift from God.

Now we are celebrating her fifth birthday.
And we decided to celebrate in a true Pie fashion. Simple, sweet and full of life.
The backyard was decorated with twinkle lights, blue, pink and purple crate paper, and loads of balloons. And of course, a handful of little friends. We had all of Pie's favorite snacks ... watermelon, carrots, cheese puffs, lemonade, jelly beans and m-n-m's ... and later each guest made their own mini pizza. As a surprise for Pie we had a local woman stop by, do a puppet show and paint all the girls faces. She is an amazing woman, who puts on awesome parties for little girls. Pie was thrilled ...

(our newest 5-yr-old)

As the night went on our DJ, otherwise known as Bub, started the the music ... 70's disco, Abba, and a little Jack Johnson. The girls danced and danced. It was wonderful to watch as they all had an amazing time.
After cake and ice cream, they danced even more .... fun was had by all.
One party guest and good friend compared the party to Sponge Bob and Patrick's "Best Day Ever!"

The next morning we decided to have a quiet celebration with just our little family. After Pie's idea of a perfect breakfast, chocolate chip waffles and fresh blueberries, we headed out for a Pie day. She wanted a hair cut, a chin length wedge to be exact. She got it. She wanted her ears pierced. We did it. She wanted to roam around Toys 'R' Us. We roamed. Bub splurged and bought her a few treats. Then it was off for ice cream. Or so we thought. Instead, we ended up at the movie theaters and saw "Ramona and Beezes." Such a sweet movie. We all really enjoyed it, and the time we spent together. And that's exactly what Pie wanted ... the four of us spending the whole day together. She got it.

(On the quad her grandparents surprised her with!)

The day ended with tacos at our favorite Mexican restaurant.
Full bellies, full harts, full memories. And one tired Pie.

Her celebration was perfect, and perfectly simple ... just what she wanted. As she fell asleep I rubbed her back, her face, her arms. And I simply thanked her or being my daughter.
She brings such joy and simplicity to our lives, never really asking for much, but happy with what is ...

Happy Birthday my sweet Pie ...
