Fall has definitely set in. The days have had a distinct chill in the air ... mornings and evenings are simply cold. In fact, today feels more like winter as it is pouring rain.
We did take the kiddos on one last little trip before the weather changed to drastically. It was just for a night, but we went camping. But instead of a tent, we camped out in a tree house! So very fun. The kids had a blast ... we all did.
This spot we found had several tree houses, rope swings, zip lines, horses, fields, and bridges that went from tree to tree. It was very cool. So we did just about everything ... we even played horse shoes and a bit of volleyball. We barbecued hot dogs, and made smores over the camp fire. After the kids did the rope swings 'til near dark, we headed up the ladder and settled in for board games in our tree as the rain began to fall.
The kids just loved the fact that we were staying in a tree house.
Every time she walked across one of the bridges she sang her made up song, "Everything is gonna be alright .... everything is gonna be alright."
I so enjoy and am so grateful for the time (even if only a night) we get to spend as a family with no distractions. It's a time to truly enjoy one another. Not that we don't at home ... we very much do, and we have family time every day, in all we do. Because in all we do, whether school, work, sports, chores, we are all involved. And it's awesome. But being away with no phone, computer, obligations of any sort ... we can simply be.
And to me, that's important.
