A day of crafts ...

So the other day my girl and I spent some time dong crafts. We were given an old beat up mailbox. It belonged to a friend who was getting rid of it ... you the saying, "One persons trash is another persons treasure." Well, it turned into our treasure.

We painted it red, Put our name on it. And of course, decorated with beads.

It now lives in our dining room so we can leave notes or goodies for each other. When the red flag is up .... man, is there excitement in the house!

So I had a shoot. After a day of play with the kiddos, I got myself together (even looked professional), and took off. I had an awesome shoot with a girl who is a senior in high school. We were in a funky location, she brought her guitar .... we had a blast. The shots turned out great. I do love what I do.

Anyway, I returned home to find the red flag was up and two smirking kids. And what I found in the mailbox was the first clue to my very own treasure hunt set up by my son. It was so much fun. His clues led me all around the house, and said things like ...
"I hope your clients name was Jiano, go now and look inside the piano." or
"I love you and I love chalk, look inside the kitchen walk (wok)."
So cute and clever ....

Oh, and I found a chocolate bar at the end of my hunt. That and two giggling kiddos ...

I love the innocence, so carefree ... sweet ...

"I love you mommy ... you are the best mommy. Thank you for teaching me so much."
Out of the blue ... spoken with a giant hug ....

Later while we were having a family chat about what beauty truly is compared to what our culture makes it out to be, we asked what she thought the word beauty meant. Her reply, "A princess. With long hair. Good teeth. Long dress. And a good voice."
Then she added ...
"Me."

Out of the mouth of babes ...

Now, off to enjoy one of my favorite things .... snuggling on the bed together, reading. Todays selection "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom."
