School starts today ... hard to believe.

My baby boy (or perhaps not so baby) had a hard time sleeping last night. His tummy ... a bundle of nerves.

Quite frankly, mine were too. I didn't tell him that. Instead, we snuggled, we prayed, we talked about how well he will do. And I know he will. I rubbed his back until he fell asleep. I laid in the dark simply listening to him breathe. So peaceful ...

My heart doesn't want him to go. My heart wants to keep him home.

But I know I can't.

I know it's good to send him off. He goes to a wonderful elementary school our small community. What a good training ground ... a small training ground to help prepare him for a life time.

He is prepared with the lessons from home. He reads his bible and knows right from wrong. He is fair and truthful.

It's hard for any mom to let her child go ... even for a few short hours.

My prayer is for peace, for his heart and mine. For a safe environment, a year filled with learning, life lessons, fun recesses, and joy.

Off to make hot chocolate with whip cream .... a perfect way to start the first day of school!
