The weekend was full .... full of fun, friends, family. Good laughs, great food, spend the nights, a date night, and late nights. Today, tired kids (and a tired mom!).

So, we had one of those days, so to speak. The dog got out, the sink backed up, the toaster broke, sugar spilled everywhere and I lost my keys.

Usually makes for a good laugh ... the reality of a day. But not today.

My heart seemed to be overwhelmed.

And the kiddos attitudes were that of overly tired kids too ... overly sensitive, bickering over the silliest of things, selfish moments and egging each other on ...

Truly it was the attitudes of the heart ... mine ... theirs, actions an reactions.

The remedy ... for them it was a lazy afternoon, a movie and a yo-yo. For me it was a hot cup of tea, the cool afternoon breze. A sweet snuggle, a nice chat and an early bedtime.

The night ended with my nine-year-old talking about kindness, doing nice things for others, a simply smile, and how "it could start a chain reaction of kindness." He liked the thought, as did I.

Onto a better heart ...
