Thanksgiving ..... a simple, relaxed, family kind of day. It's not about the food we eat or how fancy we make it, it's about the heart, how we receive the day, the meal and the people we spend it with.
The day was cold and wet, so we spent much of it inside by the fire, playing scrabble, the boys watching football. It was simple ... it was perfect.

The kiddos and I ran out when we could to take a few photos and walk in the field while the dogs ran.

A bench at my mom's that is dedicated to her sister, who passed away 10 years ago from cancer. I pass the bench every time I'm there, yet it caught my eye. They were so close, sisters and best friends.

And of course Bub kept his BB gun handy in case any birds landed close by!

The dogs .... they are sweet and they keep things interesting! They love to run and run and run. Then they love to sleep by the fire and every now and then we find Tucker (below) buried under our quilt all snuggled up in bed. He is also the one who stole a turkey leg from the table, then ran laps around the table to keep away from my father! Yes, he was naughty and my father not too happy .... but hilarious at the same time!

The older I get the more I realize its not about the elaborate and the perfection of the meal, the decor, or the presentation, it's about the time spent.
And I am thankful for the moments of our day ....
