a Pie kind of day ....

It's late. The house is quiet. Still. After a day of excitement, I have a moment to reflect. Today we celebrated Pie. With a small group of her girlfriends, grandmothers and cousins, we danced, played musical chairs and enjoyed an artsy afternoon painting canvases. We had two white butterfly cakes, grapes and fruit punch. Tonight we ended with a family dinner at her restaurant of choice. We ate noodles. It was simple. It was Pie.

Tomorrow she turns 6 years old. Unbelievable .... it seems like yesterday she was a baby. It's been amazing to watch her grow into the girl she is, the person she is becoming. She's reserved, shy, sweet, introspective, intuitive, wise, and rather quite funny.

And her heart is always towards others, not really focused on herself. Always going along with whatever, whenever, for whomever ... with hardly a fuss.

It was such a blessing to celebrate her today, just the way she wanted to. It was her special day ...
