tea and cookies ...

The fog and cold has settled in, some photography shoots rescheduled, so we have found ourselves in the house quite a bit this week. So Pie and I took some time to do some home projects. We decided to add a little light to these gray days with candles and twinkle lights.

I enjoy the weather though ... gives me an excuse to do extra baking (and eating), drink more tea and take things a bit more slowly.

And of course, art projects. Pie could spend hours painting, drawing, creating. So we did. The dining room table was covered in craft papers, stickers, glue, colored pencils ... for none other than card making. She made cards for friends and neighbors. We bundled up and made a few special deliveries around the neighborhood.
And one special book was made for Daddy ...

Pie can wrestle with her brother like the best of them. She is tough. But more often than not she can be found doing some kind of art work or creating her own style of fashions for her, her friends or on the computer.
Her new found art happens to be photography. Perhaps she will take after her mama! It's been interesting to see her photos, (she has been taking a lot at football. Yes, Bub is still playing) from her vantage point. She loves to set up shots and create images. She's 5, but her eye sees so much.

Like I said, Bub's football season is still in full swing. His team is in the playoffs (won the first round today 29-0) and now one game away from the championship. I am so proud of him and all the boys. They never gave up! Bub ran cross the field nearly 70 yards to chase down the player with the ball. It was awesome ...
The team reminds me of "The Little Engine That Could." From the start of the season they were the team that wasn't a threat. They were on the younger side,. They were on the smaller side. The head coach left before the season began. With complaints and murmurings of parents, a few kiddos also left. It was set up to be a not-so-great season.
But then two men, along with a few dads, stepped up. And it has been amazing. They are knowledgeable in football, yet kind and caring men with good morals. Not only have they taught these boys football, they are BIG on respect, humble winning and gracious losing.

We are surrounded by examples, both good and bad, each and everyday. And we are examples, everyday, in all we do. What an awesome thought!
1 Timothy 4:12 says "Be thou an example of the believer, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." In all we do ...

Keeping that focus on others and not ourselves and what we have going on, is such a blessing. Not only does it bless others, we ourselves are blessed. I know for me when I focus on others, I am blessed with peace. And it's then and only then that the things I have going simply fall right into place. Certainly not of my own doing, my hard work, my will. But His ...

Off for tea and warm molasses cookies ....
