Lizards, Legos and violins .... that about sums up our day.

The afternoon was cold and getting so very dark so very quickly. My sweet husband had to work late, so the kiddos and I decided to snuggle in and have a warm and cozy evening.

The hours were long .... in a good way. We had all the time in the world.

Lego's sucked us in. My sonny boy can build for hours. He loves creating. Now my girlie girl enjoys doing that with her brother. Except, instead of robots and ships, she built a store and a tea shop. So very fitting! We had an entire Lego world, characters, story line ... it was a blast.

Now, besides a cat and dog, we also have a lizard for a pet. Actually, my son does. A bearded dragon we gave him as a gift for graduating kindergarten. (silly, I know) ... I am not a reptile fan in the slightest, but Napoleon (our lizard) is alright. I even find myself talking to him. And over the past three years or so, I've grown more fond of him.

But today my son decided to get Napoleon out of his tank and let him run around while we played Lego's. Very unnerving ... I kept one eye on him the whole time! I kept envisioning getting charged by this harmless creature.

The evening came to an end with the kiddos giving me a private concert. The stage was set so to speak ... lights were dim, candles were lit. And while my girl played the piano and sang, mostly songs about love, dreaming and following your heart, my son played his violin. Every song he has learned so far. The played together, performed solos and finished with a grand finale. It was so sweet ...

I love moments like that with my kiddos ...

My husband got in late from work. And with him, he brought two pizzas that were left over from his evening meeting. We sat up, talked and ate cold pizza 'til way too late. Such a fun, impromptu date! A perfect way to end the day ...
