There was one moment at the end of practice that I wish I had a photo of, but I don't. Yet there is a snapshot in my mind and the emotion of that single moment that will stay with me.
A team that has been together since mid-July, four to five days a week. Working, sweating, learning to be a team, as well as the game of football. They haven't won a game all season ... they've rarely scored. But each day these boys have given their all in practice and show up ready to play every weekend. They have never given up.
So, as the coach had the boys in a huddle at the end of their last practice, giving his pep talk, this team of seventeen 9-year-old boys started their team chant. Their arms were around each other and they were jumping as they sang. There was so much heart, so much emotion behind it ... it was tangible. It was as if this single moment played out in slow motion.
It brought tears to my eyes.
I am so proud of each and every one of our boys ...
