Mother's Day

After a wonderful breakfast in bed .... my son's specialty, eggs, .... and of course a french press coffee, the kids smothered me with hugs, kisses and their handmade gifts. They said they wanted to do whatever I wanted for the day. And that was to go hiking. We packed snacks and drinks and all hopped in the car for an adventure. We knew where we were going to hike but took several deturs on the drive there through long twisted tree-lined dirt roads. It was definitely serene ....
The kids were troopers throughout the hike and just had fun exploring the land and taking in the sights and sounds. As we hiked up the mountain, we had great family time .... laughing, talking, and just some quiet time. My son engaged us in a great theological conversation. It was awesome to hear his wonderful insights and thoughts. Even the three year old jumped in with her own thoughts.
During some quiet time I thought about moms, mine and all the moms that I know. They all inspire me, especially my own. What respect I have ... I thought about what being a mom means to me ... to love and nuture, to teach and guide, to comfort and support ... all done with a graceful and merciful heart. What an awesome responsibilty ....
I'm not the perfect mom ... but I love every moment, and strive to be my best.
